Job Summary

As a Summer Intern at Black & Veatch in Cary, you will play a meaningful role in addressing some of the world’s most critical infrastructure challenges. This internship offers the opportunity to contribute to diverse, impactful projects that support our clients’ goals while fostering your professional growth and advancing the success of Black & Veatch.

In this position, potential office locations could include:

• Kansas City
• Raleigh

Key Responsibilities

To demonstrate leadership and adaptability, with the willingness to take ownership of tasks or projects

Develop project plans with the intention of delivering requires such as resources, timing/milestones, and risks

The ability to achieve goals and success across functionalities

Drive to overcome the most challenging obstacles and look for ways to improve results

Collaborate on projects that utilize generative AI to enhance the capabilities of data-driven reporting and development of AI products.

Learning Opportunities:

• Assist with data collection, cleaning, and preprocessing for analytics projects
• Support the development of machine learning models and evaluate their performance
• Conduct exploratory data analysis and visualization to derive insights
• Research and implement data science tools and libraries for project enhancement
• Assist with documentation and reporting of data science workflows and findings
• Contribute to the development and deployment of generative AI models for business applications
• Collaborate on the creation of dashboards and automated reports using data science techniques

Preferred Qualifications

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Analytics or a related major

· Effective communication and interpersonal skills (both written and verbal).

· Experience in accessing and analyzing data, preferably through the use of SQL.

· Ability to identify, analyze, and interpret patterns in data and produce relevant visualization.

· Knowledge and practical use of Python or other scripting languages for data analysis.

· Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills and the desire to learn.

Minimum Qualifications

Current enrollment in Information Technology or related degree program. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

This internship position is expected to be in the office on a full-time basis.
