Materials Manager | Cadillac, MI

Salary Range: $84,000 - $124,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement inventory management strategies to optimize stock levels and minimize carrying costs.
  • Oversee the procurement of raw materials, components, and finished goods, ensuring timely delivery and quality compliance.
  • Manage supplier relationships, including performance evaluation, contract negotiation, and dispute resolution.
  • Lead materials planning activities, including forecasting, MRP execution, and production scheduling coordination.
  • Optimize warehouse operations and logistics for efficient material flow, storage, and distribution.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives related to material acquisition, storage, and transportation.
  • Recruit, train, and manage the materials team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Recommended Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in materials management, procurement, or supply chain leadership within a manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) for inventory control, planning, and procurement.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and vendor management skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement in supply chain operations.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Proficiency with advanced data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for supply chain optimization.
  • Experience with international logistics and global sourcing strategies.
  • Direct experience in implementing or optimizing Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes.
