Job Description

Were looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Project Accountant to join our construction team. In this role, you will manage the financial aspects of multiple construction projects, ensuring accurate reporting, budgeting, cost tracking, and compliance. You will work closely with project managers, field staff, and the accounting team to help drive the financial success of each project.

What You will Do:

  • Set up, monitor, and maintain accurate job cost records for all active projects

  • Prepare and analyze budgets, forecasts, and detailed cost reports

  • Track project expenses across labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors

  • Handle project billing, including owner invoices and subcontractor payment applications

  • Ensure compliance with contract terms, including retention, change orders, and lien releases

  • Reconcile project accounts and support month-end and year-end close

  • Collaborate with auditors by providing documentation and explanations as needed

  • Maintain organized project files and records in line with company policies

What You Bring:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in construction or project-based industries

  • Solid knowledge of construction cost accounting, billing, and financial reporting

  • Familiarity with construction accounting software (e.g., Viewpoint) is a plus

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam, and other financial tools

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities

  • Collaborative mindset with experience working in fast-paced, cross-functional teams

  • Ability to manage and mentor other Project Accountants

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with AIA billing processes

  • Understanding of contract structures, including Unit Price, T&M, and Lump Sum

  • Knowledge of lien waivers, certified payroll, and construction compliance documentation
