As the company continues its expansion, we are seeking a Tax Director to lead and enhance its tax strategies, compliance framework, and planning initiatives.

Role Overview

The Tax Director will be responsible for shaping and managing the company’s tax strategy, ensuring full compliance with federal, state, and international tax regulations while optimizing tax efficiency. This role demands deep expertise in taxation within the fashion and retail sector, strong leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to managing tax risk.

Key Responsibilities

• Tax Compliance & Reporting
  • Ensure accurate and timely filing of all federal, state, and local tax returns, including sales and use tax, income tax, and international tax obligations.
• Strategic Tax Planning
  • Develop and execute tax strategies that align with business objectives, optimize tax efficiency, and minimize liabilities.
• Audit & Risk Management
  • Oversee tax audits, liaise with tax authorities, and implement strategies to mitigate tax risks.
• International Taxation
  • Manage global tax matters, including transfer pricing, VAT, and cross-border transactions, ensuring compliance with international tax laws.
• Financial Reporting
  • Lead tax-related financial reporting, ensuring compliance with GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with finance, legal, and operations teams to assess the tax implications of key business decisions, including new market expansions and supply chain strategies.
• Leadership & Advisory
  • Provide expert tax guidance to senior leadership and mentor a team of tax professionals.
• Process Improvement
  • Implement best practices and automation tools to enhance efficiency in tax reporting and compliance.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 8+ years of tax experience, preferably within the fashion, retail, or consumer goods industry.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and international tax regulations, including sales tax and transfer pricing.
• Experience managing multi-state tax compliance and global tax structures.
• Proficiency in tax software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, OneSource, Vertex).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex tax matters to non-financial stakeholders.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with cross-functional teams.
