Maintenance Supervisor (Engineering Department) - Hotel

JOB OVERVIEW: Maintenance Supervisor is an experienced and skilled technician responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks throughout the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces. Working with greater independence and a deeper understanding of building systems, this role ensures the safe and efficient operation of the hotel's physical plant and equipment. Maintenance Technician diagnoses and resolves more complex maintenance issues, performs preventative maintenance, and may assist in training and guiding less experienced technicians.
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee the efficient daily operations of the hotel's Engineering Department, ensuring all maintenance tasks are performed effectively and promptly.
- Lead, train, and mentor a team of maintenance technicians, fostering a collaborative and productive working atmosphere.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure all hotel facilities, equipment, and systems function optimally and efficiently.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of the hotel's infrastructure and equipment to identify areas that require maintenance or repair.
- Coordinate with other departments to schedule maintenance work, minimizing disruption to guest services and hotel operations.
- Manage and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including equipment maintenance logs, service reports, and inventory of tools and supplies.
- Assist in the preparation and management of the department’s budget, monitoring expenses and ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and standards, maintaining a safe environment for both guests and team members.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies, providing solutions to ensure the comfort and satisfaction of hotel guests.
- Collaborate with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs, renovations, or new installations, ensuring quality service delivery.
**Qualifications:**
- Proven experience in a maintenance supervisory role, preferably within a hotel or similar hospitality environment.
- Strong technical skills in mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to interact effectively with all levels of hotel staff and guests.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required.
- Proficiency in using maintenance management software and other relevant computer applications.
- Relevant certifications in maintenance or engineering disciplines are an advantage.
