Under the general direction of the Application Development and Support Manager, an Information Technology (IT) Manager I of the California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority), the IT Specialist II (Senior IT Application Support Specialist) is responsible for the customization, configuration, enhancement, deployment, administration, and maintenance of the Authority’s Commercial-Of-The-Shelf (COTS), Software as a Service (SaaS), and custom applications with primary focus on the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) application. The incumbent ensures adequate documentation for ongoing maintenance and support; provides innovative IT solutions; assists with Americans with Disabilities Act compliance issues; ensures applications are optimized; and integrates asset management applications with other Authority IT applications such as ArcGIS, and other custom/COTS applications. The incumbent is also responsible for providing support on an as-needed basis on a variety of complex IT systems.

Part-time telework is available for this position for California residents based on the requirements of the position and may be discussed during the interview process. Hiring interviews may be available virtually, using teleconferencing or video conferencing options.
While working on site, the incumbent works in a professional office environment, in a climate-controlled cubicle which may fluctuate in temperature and is under artificial light. Incumbent will be required to use a computer, mouse, and video display terminal and will be required to sit for long periods of time at a computer screen. Employee must be able to focus for long periods of time, multi-task, adapt to changes in priorities and complete tasks or projects with short notice. Employees may be required to travel outside of their workstation to perform general tasks.A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required for this position. The SOQ must be no more than three (3) pages, single-spaced, with one-inch margins, in 12-point font, organized and numbered as reflected below. 2. Describe your experience with the following technologies, including the purpose and use of the technology, the environment, and your role.
a. Programming languages such as Java, Python, .NET
b. Microsoft SQL Server or similar technologies
c. Usage and support of various APIs and integration
d. Enterprise Asset Management applications like IBM Maximo or any similar tool
3. Provide examples of your experience solving a business problem with a technical solution. How did you identify the business need and determine the best solution? What was your role in the implementation of the solution and what Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) deliverables did you created.
4. Provide an example of resolving a complex application support issue you have encountered. Explain the nature of the problem, troubleshooting steps taken, your communication/interactions with the end users or other support teams, and the outcome.
