Ascension is seeking qualified, dependable, and faith-aligned substitute teachers to support classroom instruction in the absence of the regular teacher. Substitute teachers play a critical role in maintaining the continuity of Catholic education, upholding the values and mission of the school while managing student learning and behavior.
Follow lesson plans left by the regular teacher to ensure consistent instruction.
Manage classroom behavior and maintain a safe, respectful learning environment.
Supervise students in the classroom, hallways, and other assigned areas.
Take attendance and complete other administrative tasks as needed.
Communicate with school administrators regarding student behavior, incidents, or concerns.
Support the school’s Catholic mission and model Gospel values.
Lead or support prayer and religious practices appropriate to the classroom setting (depending on the subject area).
Adapt to different grade levels and subject matter as needed.
High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Prior teaching or substitute teaching experience preferred.
Practicing Catholic preferred (may be required for religion classes).
Strong classroom management skills and ability to engage students.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Background check and fingerprint clearance required.
Willingness to support the Catholic identity and mission of the school.
