Trade Compliance Specialist USA

Job Profile Summary
The Compliance Specialist will be responsible for ensuring adherence to quality system requirements aligned with industry standards, customer expectations, regulatory bodies, and corporate initiatives. This role manages compliance with regulations including ITAR, EAR, CUI, and CMMC, as well as company policies and procedures outlined in the Quality Management System (QMS). The specialist will support multiple sites, maintain external certifications, and serve as a key contact for regulatory auditors, customer export control representatives, industry peers, and internal corporate partners.
Key Accountabilities
- Maintain trade compliance with ITAR/EAR & CMMC/CUI regulations.
- Ensure compliance across Branch 71 and additional facilities.
- Support and participate in internal and external audits, including ITAR/EAR and CUI assessments.
- Oversee verification of employee eligibility under U.S. export control regulations.
- Act as a liaison with customers, regulatory agencies, industry groups, and internal stakeholders.
- Manage compliance-related projects to meet company, industry, and regulatory standards.
- Support facility access control and security authorizations.
- Qualify and serve as an Assistant Empowered Official, including drafting export license applications in the DDTC system.
- Maintain and expand knowledge of AS9100, FAA, DFARS, ISO/AS/TS, and related audit procedures.
- Stay current on changes in trade compliance laws through training, certifications, and industry participation.
- Manage the Records & Retention process to ensure compliance with corporate, customer, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide training and job aids to supporting associates.
- Support investigations and corrective action initiatives using the ReCAP RCCA system.
- Assist with the creation, review, and approval of QMS documentation.
- Lead and coordinate Quality & Continuous Improvement meetings and initiatives.
- Develop, revise, and communicate Quality-related documents (Job Aids, Alerts, Tips).
- Promote compliance with safety requirements and support onboarding/offboarding in customer systems.
- Participate in health, safety, quality, ISO, 6S, compliance, and Lean initiatives.
- Ability to work within SAP or other Warehouse Management Systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support operations.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- U.S. work authorization required (position requires access to export-controlled data).
- Experience in ITAR, EAR, CUI, and CMMC compliance.
- Ability to pass required EAR/ITAR & CUI Test.
- "Certified Export Compliance Professional" (or actively pursuing certification).
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in aerospace-related Quality Systems.
- Strong knowledge of export requirements and compliance regulations.
- Problem-solving ability with experience managing multiple priorities.
- Strong communication, presentation, and writing skills.
- Ability to work effectively across all organizational levels.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Willingness to travel up to 20-25%.
- Skilled in data trending, analysis, and reporting to senior leadership.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with close attention to detail.
- Previous trainer experience is a plus.
