SUMMARY: Provide support and assistance with the efficient operation of the health offices in the district and support district nurses, teachers, administration, and students with basic first-aid needs, and perform accurate record keeping and reporting.  The Health Aide will work under the direct supervision of the assigned Registered Nurse, Lead Nurse, and site principal. 

CONTRACT: 175 days, 7 hours per day. Contracted days will be pro-rated to remaining contracted days for the current school year.

Responsibilities

• Effectively manages flow of clinic/office by receiving students and determining reason for visit and assistance needed
• Assists nurse in the provision of basic care
• Administers medications and treatments as directed by a licensed physician and district policies and procedures
• Performs basic first aid procedures
• Performs diabetic care for students under the direction of a school nurse.
• Maintains accurate medical records, logs and reports
• Check immunization records and assist the nurse in achieving immunization compliance
• Assists with annual health screens for vision, hearing, blood pressure and other screenings
• Prepares and updates confidential medical lists for teachers and field trip medical lists for teachers in case of emergency
• Orders supplies and maintains clinic stock
• Sanitizes and maintains equipment
• Contacts parents to disseminate student medical information
• Stays abreast of and adheres to all federal, state and district regulations
• CPR certification required
• Travel between school sites, as needed
• May perform additional duties as assigned
