Health Aide at Northwest Elementary SchoolSUMMARY: Provide support and assistance with the efficient operation of the health offices in the district and support district nurses, teachers, administration, and students with basic first-aid needs, and perform accurate record keeping and reporting. The Health Aide will work under the direct supervision of the assigned Registered Nurse, Lead Nurse, and site principal.
CONTRACT: 175 days, 7 hours per day. Contracted days will be pro-rated to remaining contracted days for the current school year.

Responsibilities
- Effectively manages flow of clinic/office by receiving students and determining reason for visit and assistance needed
- Assists nurse in the provision of basic care
- Administers medications and treatments as directed by a licensed physician and district policies and procedures
- Performs basic first aid procedures
- Performs diabetic care for students under the direction of a school nurse.
- Maintains accurate medical records, logs and reports
- Check immunization records and assist the nurse in achieving immunization compliance
- Assists with annual health screens for vision, hearing, blood pressure and other screenings
- Prepares and updates confidential medical lists for teachers and field trip medical lists for teachers in case of emergency
- Orders supplies and maintains clinic stock
- Sanitizes and maintains equipment
- Contacts parents to disseminate student medical information
- Stays abreast of and adheres to all federal, state and district regulations
- CPR certification required
- Travel between school sites, as needed
- May perform additional duties as assigned
